How stay at home orders developed into #StayHomeAndFoster
This is an archived session from 2020.
When the Coronavirus outbreak struck the United States, GreaterGood.org heard that animal shelters were shutting down to the public and working with a severely reduced staff. This made it difficult to continue housing hundreds of pets in shelters across the nation. We developed #StayHomeAndFoster, a program designed to pair shelters pets with foster families. After a strong test response in our local Tucson market, GreaterGood.org launched a nationwide campaign – and received over 70,000 foster registrations. By identifying the benefits of fostering and witnessing the operational changes occurring in Animal Services, Foster has grown to be a core piece of supporting people and pets. Speakers will share a variety of lessons learned; From marketing strategies (how to get a new foster for $1!) and budgeting for recruitment, to the social and economic impacts on operations.
