Job Description

We are looking for Animal Care Specialists to ensure our animals are healthy by providing medications. We have 6-8 hour shifts in the mornings and in the late afternoons-early evenings. We practice safe protection measures including wearing masks and social distancing while at work.

We Care Animal Rescue is a no-kill sanctuary for homeless cats in the Napa Valley. Their care, comfort and well-being is our top priority. Learn more about us at:

Animal Care:
• Checks charts for special care notes from previous shift and uses it in daily schedule
• Checks diabetic cats; gives insulin injections and gives prescribed food
• Prepares medicine meatballs and feeds to designated cats
• Sets up all bowls of food to feed cats in the facility and feral cats outside of building
• Administers subcutaneous fluids for cats
• Checks all animals for general health and normal behavior
• Checks animals in distress or injured
• Ensures the cleanliness of the animal enclosures
• Reads animal body language; knows how to act towards fearful or aggressive animals
• Commits to a high standard of safety with all safety laws and safety rules
Other Duties:
• Maintains files and records
• Assists in training volunteers
Experience and Skills:
• Minimum of two years’ experience working with animals, either personally or professionally
• Experience as a shelter staff member with medical care experience
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite
• Able to read animal body language
• Good customer service skills
• Able to work irregular hours, weekends and holidays
• Has valid California drivers’ license
• Can pull and/or push items weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds
