Community Support Manager Job Description

It’s an exciting time to join the Cincinnati Animal CARE team! Cincinnati Animal CARE has been serving Hamilton County as the animal services provider for one year now and our impact on the community is just beginning.
Cincinnati Animal CARE is hiring for a Manager of our Community Support program. The goal of this department is to keep pets with their families through support intervention and proactive community-based programming. Cincinnati Animal CARE is a Pets for Life shelter through the Humane Society of the United States and a HASS (Human Animal Support Services) shelter through American Pets Alive!. Through phone consultations, door to door outreach in low-income neighborhoods, and pet food pantries, our Community Support Manager is a case worker responsible for building relationships with pet owners and piecing together the best solution for each individual family. This position is highly collaborative with other departments in our organization so a commitment to teamwork and cooperation are a must.

The Community Support Manager will report to the Director of Lifesaving Operations.

Major Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Program development; our organization is only 1 year old. The Community Support Manager must enjoy working autonomously and building programming from the ground up.
Building relationships with the public; The Community Support Manager will be responsible for going door-to-door in Pets for Life designated areas of our community and engaging the public through conversation and support.
Data entry and tracking; This role will be heavy in data-driven decision-making and reporting to our grant funders and stakeholders.
Off-site community events; The Community Support Manager will be responsible for managing a calendar of off-site events that support our community and promote our programming, as well as, attending and staffing these events.
Oversight of our Community Support department; we currently have a 4-person Community Support team that this Manager will oversee. Our Community Support department is not only responsible for community engagement but also the managed admissions of owned pets and stray intake of both dogs and cats in our county.

Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to climb stairs
Ability to lift at least 30lbs
Willingness to go door-to-door

Social work education, training or experience is helpful, but not required.
