Job Summary
The Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary Director of Development is primarily responsible for fundraising and developing and managing sustainable revenue streams. The Development Director also establishes and maintains relationships with major donors and seeks grants to help supplement the Sanctuary’s operating budget.

Major Responsibilities
Fundraising
• In collaboration with HHAS management and the Board of Directors, determines the Sanctuary’s annual financial needs and calculates a stretch but realistic fundraising goal to achieve each year.
• Creates a comprehensive fundraising plan that incorporates a variety of strategies, including: fundraisers and community events, on-line donations, planned giving, major gifts, and corporate gifts/sponsorship.
• Manages grants in conjunction with the Board of Directors, including research, identification of grant opportunities, applications and follow-up on grant progress.

Donor/Benefactor Relations

• Builds and maintains relationships with donors and fundraising entities.
• Creates opportunities for ongoing communications with major donors and corporate sponsorships.
• Develops and manages community outreach initiatives, marketing and public relations.
• Fosters strong relationships with local veterinarians and animal-related businesses as well as local newspapers and community organizations.

Outreach/Marketing/Public Relations

• Maintains relationships with the public by fostering positive community perception of HHAS.
• Oversees Sanctuary communications that creates a consistent voice that the public can identify with Hallie Hill and enhances Sanctuary visibility in the community.
• Develops and maintains a compelling online presence for HHAS, including website and social media.
• Manages community outreach activities and serves as a representative of HHAS at appropriate community events. Oversees and coordinates staff/Board of Directors/volunteer participants at such events.

Qualifications

• At least three years of hands-on experience in fundraising and development in a non-profit environment. Such experience in an animal welfare organization would be a strong plus.
• Tangible experience in developing creative fundraising events and programs.
• An undergraduate degree in nonprofit management, business administration or a related field or equivalent work experience.
• Quantifiable experience with relevant technology tools including: Microsoft Windows and Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Graphic Design and Social Media.
• CFRE is a plus.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people and situations.
• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills, ability to multi-task and be flexible and adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment.
