Job Description

The mission of the MSPCA’s Nevins Farm Equine & Farm Animal Care and Adoption Center is to protect and care for abused, neglected, surrendered, abandoned, and at-risk farm animals.

Some of the primary duties include:

Evaluate equine and farm animals at properties identified as concern by MSPCA law enforcement, animal control, and other agencies, and serve as the liaison to provide expert advice on equine and farm animal matters. The Manager will evaluate the needs of individual owners and allocate available resources to ensure the proper care for the animal or lead the removal of animals from the property.
Implement community outreach efforts focused on helping the largest number of animals possible through education, advocacy, and direct outreach in an effort to advance the welfare of equines and farm animals in our community. The Manager will provide meaningful guidance and support to individuals struggling to provide care for their horses or farm animals.
Respond to emergency rescue situations involving farm animals in New England as well as training first responders on emergency response, handling and other equine/farm animal welfare topics.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for applicants with a Bachelor's degree and advanced horsemanship skills, with at least five years of equine/farm animal experience, 2 years of barn management experience and 2 years of experience in a supervisory role. Please detail your experience and skills in your cover letter.
