Job Description
About Us:With more than 60 years of history, the Rutland County Humane Society (RCHS) has cared for over 120,000 animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, and, in the early years, skunks, loons, fawns, goats and horses. The RCHS initiatives have included fundraising events, humane education, Junior Humane Society programs, pet therapy, pet adoption, spay & neuter programs, dog training, membership, and more. Support has come from individuals and businesses throughout the county with monetary donations, supplies for the shelter, publicity and fundraising. The RCHS continues to implement programs to help the animals and people of Rutland County.
Position Overview:
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the RCHS to fulfill the organization’s mission and vision. This role involves providing visionary leadership, overseeing daily operations, managing staff and volunteers, ensuring financial health, and representing the RCHS to the community, donors, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, animal science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit management.
· Strong knowledge of animal welfare, shelter operations, and best practices in nonprofit management is preferred, but not required.
· Human resource management, strong leadership and supervisory skills required.
· Proven track record in fundraising, financial management, and strategic planning.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and people skills.
· Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
· Strong organizational and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
