At House of Dog Training, our mission is to use positive reinforcement and learning techniques to increase and strengthen the bond between humans, dogs, and our community. As part of this mission, we provide a clean, safe, and nurturing environment and ensure that dogs in our care are given individual attention tailored to their needs. House of Dog Training strives to foster understanding and effective communication between humans and dogs so that people have the companions they want and dogs learn how to live as a canine in a human world.

The primary responsibility of a Kennel Tech is ensuring the well-being and outstanding care of all dogs housed at House of Dog Training. Being a Kennel Tech is a high-intensity job that requires employees to be on their feet and move for long periods of time. Kennel Techs are exposed to all types of dogs including dog and human reactive dogs. Part of the job requires time spent outside, even during inclement weather. Daily tasks include but are not limited to:

Dog Care

-Feeding, watering dogs, and administering medications to dogs as needed
-Providing outdoor breaks for all dogs
-Running Dog Playgroups and giving extra TLC to dogs who can’t play
-Take pictures and video of boarding/day school and upload to online forms
-Fill out online forms as needed so clients can read about their boarding dogs
-Bathing dogs as needed

Cleaning Duties

-Cleaning Kennels
-Poop scooping
-Ongoing laundry/dishes
-Cleaning the main training floor
-Sweeping and mopping floors
-Miscellaneous cleaning and sanitizing to PACFA standards
-Maintaining a clean work environment


-Checking in boarding dogs
-Set up kennels for next day
-Taking payments as needed
-Cutting Hot Dogs
-Preparing Kong Stuffing
-Stuffing Kongs
-Taking out the trash
-Emptying outside poop stations and refilling bags
-Snow shoveling and sanding entrance area as needed

Qualified candidates will possess the following skills/traits:

-Prior kennel or dog daycare experience is preferred
-Prior experience with dogs is REQUIRED
-Must be able to handle reactive dogs OVER 40 LBS
-High school diploma or GED
-Passion for animal welfare
-Patience when dealing with shy or fearful dogs
-Confidence when dealing with reactive or aggressive dogs
-Capability to use only positive reinforcement techniques
-Self-motivated work ethic
-Ability to work individually or as part of a team
-Adaptability to a constantly changing environment
-Time management and prioritization
-Attention to detail
-Willingness to work weekends, including holidays
-Reliability when scheduled

Preferred skills/traits:

-Running of Dog Playgroups
-Experience with dog handling or training
-Working knowledge of dog breeds and their key characteristics

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time. AM, PM and Late night shifts available.

Pay: $12.32 - $14.00 per hour
