Looking for a Compassionate, Collaborative Medical Nurse Assistant

ACCT Philly is the open admissions, animal care and control organization serving the City of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly provides intake, adoption, return to owner, and surrender prevention services to the community, as well as spay/neuter, rescue transfer, foster placement, and quality care for the 15,000 animals we see each year. With a focus on lifesaving, ACCT Philly saves more animal lives every year, with an 89% live release rate in 2020.

Who We Need:
A Medical Nurse Assistant to help provide exceptional care to the animals as ACCT Philly; someone who enjoys working as part of a team but is also willing and able to do a great job and go the extra mile all on their own.
The Medical Nurse Assistant is responsible for triaging animal health emergencies, examining and administering medical treatments to the shelter’s many animals, assisting in veterinary procedures and surgeries, and maintaining a clean and organized environment for our high-volume medical operations. This position works alongside a team of other Medical Nurses, managers and veterinarians to ensure timely and humane care for thousands of animals every year of various species, stages of health, and dispositions, in both the clinic and shelter setting. The Medical Nurse Assistant is a key figure in ACCT’s lifesaving mission!
The ideal Medical Nurse Assistant is someone who is comfortable working with sometimes scared, injured or stressed animals, pays close attention to detail, and enjoys learning new things daily. The Medical Nurse places a priority on teamwork, can go from bottle-feeding newborn kittens to deep-cleaning the surgery suite to triaging animal emergencies without batting an eye, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

High school diploma or GED
Experience in animal care and handling is strongly preferred.
Some college, trade, vocational school, college or further education in veterinary assistance or technology preferred.
