Position: ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL OPERATIONS MANAGER
Salary: $62,391 Annually
Department: Public Safety/Animal Care and Control
Location: 7100 Belvedere Road, WPB
Hours: 40 Variable hours/week; may include weekends, holidays and standby.
Other: Valid Florida Driver’s License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment. Respiratory screen/chest x-ray required for selected candidate.
Will be required to complete a Willingness to Work” Acknowledgment with application. Selected candidate must successfully complete the pre-exposure rabies treatment/vaccination.
Performs responsible administrative and supervisory work managing the Field Service Section of Animal Care and Control. Plans, organizes and supervises staff, operations and services. Develops, implements and monitors activities to assure compliance with organizational safety policies and procedures; ensures employees receive orientation and cross-training; monitors the maintenance of animal recordkeeping and officer reports; ensures the appropriate care of animals in care/custody. Communicates/liaises with the public and resolves field operations complaints/issues; compiles and collects weekly/monthly reports and projection figures. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director, Animal Care and Control, and is reviewed through conferences, reports and observations of results obtained.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of experience in an animal shelter or animal welfare organization including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Necessary Special Requirements: Satisfactory completion of a 40-hour standard training course as required by Florida Statute 828.27. Must obtain and maintain Florida Animal Control Association (FACA) Chemical Immobilization Certification and FACA Euthanasia Technician Certification within six (6) months of hire. Must complete incinerator operator training within six (6) months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR: Supervisory experience relating to animal control field enforcement; law enforcement background in animal handling; Associate’s Degree; FACA Chemical Immobilization/Euthanasia Technician Certification.
