A note to HumanePro readers

For over 70 years, we’ve been working to create a better world for animals. You’ve known us as The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International. Now, as we look to the future, we’re uniting under a new name—Humane World for Animals—to better reflect who we are, the bold work we do and the global mission we share. 

Why are we changing?

As most of our animal welfare allies know well, the “humane society” component of our name hasn’t always conveyed all the work that we do for all kinds of animals across more than 50 countries. In the U.S., the term is strongly associated with shelters and rescues, organizations that do incredible, impactful work in their communities and are among our best partners in our companion animal protection efforts, but which operate independently from us. In some countries where Humane Society International operates, the translation of the word “humane” has sometimes left the impression that HSI focuses solely on humans rather than animals.

Our evolved name allows us to share who we are with greater clarity, impact and depth. As one cohesive organization, we can speak with a stronger, clearer voice and collaborate more effectively across the globe to create permanent change. This name reflects the way we already work—collaborating as one team to create a better world for animals.

New name, same focus 

While our look and name are evolving, our mission and values remain the same. You can count on us to continue: 

• Tackling the root causes of animal cruelty and suffering.
• Advocating for stronger animal protection laws.
• Rescuing and caring for animals in need, wherever they are. 
• Providing animal welfare professionals and advocates with the resources and training they need to thrive through HumanePro. HumanePro will continue to offer the same great resources you’ve come to depend upon, just with a new look.

Humane World for Animals captures our mission and ambition to create a better world for all species. It highlights our global focus and builds on our heritage as a trusted leader in animal protection. The name reflects our belief that animal cruelty knows no borders, and neither does our work. 

Meet our new brand

Our new logo for Humane World for Animals is a vibrant reflection of who we are and where we’re headed. This fresh new design is a globe-shaped symbol of animals in motion, embodying the progress we strive to make. 

It includes species from land, sea and sky, showcasing the breadth of our mission to protect all animals. The logo represents forward progress, building on the legacy of our previous logos while evolving thoughtfully to reflect our bold mission for a kinder, more humane world.

Our new blue and green colors, inspired by the natural world, evoke optimism and hope. 

Together, as Humane World for Animals, we’re taking the next big step to ending animal cruelty everywhere.
