The Animal Care Manager is responsible for managing multiple aspects of the animal care program, by maximizing resources, increasing productivity, and ensuring schedule adherence. The Animal Care Manager performs all necessary supervisory functions to manage the Animal Care staff and ensure proper training of personnel effectively and efficiently.

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

Supervise the daily activities of staff.
Participate in hiring, evaluating, and disciplinary action of animal care staff.
Respond to employee questions and provide guidance.
Assist in the assessment of staffing.
Develop schedules to ensure coverage.
Communicate and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
May participate in the development of written protocols for animal care, sanitation, and environmental monitoring.
Ensure space for animal housing.
Direct staff in procedures necessary to ensure disease control and treatment programs as determined by the veterinary staff.
Coordinate the reporting of animal health problems to appropriate staff.
Ensure animal care staff is appropriately trained in all procedures.
Review staff training needs with leads.
Assist with performing daily cleaning of dog and cat kennel areas .
Assure all animals are cared for regarding food, water, daily exercise and appropriate living conditions.
Monitor the health of the animals and report to appropriate department.

Qualifications:

Highly motivated with an interest in helping animals.
Comfortable handling all breeds of cats and dogs.
Willing to clean animal kennels daily.
Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Control large dogs on a leash.
Handle cats without fear.
Work with a variety of cleaning agents.
Work in an environment with changes in climate and weather extremes.

Education:

High School Diploma Experience or an Associate's or higher degree in a related discipline is preferred along with 2 years supervisory/management experience with additional prior experience in the capacity of a Lead role in an animal care program.

Skills and Abilities:

Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PetPoint is highly desired.
Work assignments may include weekends and holidays and requires occasional after hour contact.
All new hires are subject to a 90-day probation period.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $38,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year

Schedule:

8-hour shift - days may vary and hours may extend dependent on the needs of the facility.
