About the organization: NOCO Humane is an independent nonprofit animal shelter working to further the compassionate, safe, and responsible relationship between animals and people and a trusted, responsive community leader, providing programs and services essential to the high quality of life for animals and people in northern Colorado.

Are you passionate about animal welfare and ready to lead a dedicated team? We’re seeking an enthusiastic Shelter Manager to ensure our shelter runs smoothly and our animal friends receive the best care possible! The Shelter Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Animal Shelter including client services, animal care, and behavior and enrichment. The position manages two (2) or more supervisor-level staff members directly and more than twenty (20) staff members indirectly. Ensures appropriate training and development for department staff and applicable volunteers. Actively participates in management and supervisory meetings. This is a key position responsible for the smooth operation of the Shelter. The schedule for the position currently includes a weekend day, subject to change, with some evening and on-call requirements.

Expected hiring range is $60K to $70K commensurate with experience and education. Relocation assistance may be available. Closes November 30th, 2024, or when filled.

What You’ll Do:

Oversee daily operations of the shelter, including client services and animal care.
Lead and mentor a team of supervisors and staff, ensuring top-notch training and development.
Manage staffing needs, conduct performance reviews, and make impactful hiring decisions.
Coordinate adoption events and collaborate with external partners to promote our mission.
Act as the primary escalation point for staff, addressing challenges and ensuring safe practices.
Participate in strategic planning and budgeting to enhance our shelter’s future.
Who You Are:

You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in animal welfare and at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
You’re a proven leader with experience managing multi-department teams and fostering a collaborative environment.
You have strong skills in animal health, behavior, and handling.
You’re comfortable in a fast-paced, emotionally charged environment and can handle the challenges of working in a shelter.
