Job Description

Purpose of Position: Assist Practice Manager in the oversight and management of the operations and team at Veterinary Hospital at CSU Spur.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of direct reports as assigned, providing effective communication, leadership, guidance, and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency; recruits, interviews, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards
Work in partnership with the Practice Manager to manage Community Veterinary Services teams at CSU Spur, including; monitor staff safety and regulatory compliance, support scheduling, callouts, and time-off requests, shifting staff resources as needed to maintain hospital capacity, manage the daily appointment schedules to ensure patient care capacity is met each day, develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures, and ensure that animal care standards are met
Functions as a floor manager by providing on shift support in a variety of roles as needed. This includes working directly with the team supporting daily workflow approximately 25% of the time.
Ensure staff, volunteer, client, and partner experiences with the hospital reflect the League’s brand and core value, compassion always.
Manage the volunteer program including recruitment, onboarding, training, evaluation, and recognition
Work in collaboration with Veterinary Training Specialist on hospital training programs for veterinary assistants, veterinary technicians, and CSRs.
Provide onboarding support to new hospital staff, including CSRs, veterinary technicians, and veterinary assistants
Provide insight regarding client needs and provides input into the development of programs to support priority communities
Approach challenging situations with a positive perspective, helpful attitude and flexible strategies, seeking the best possible experiences and outcomes for pets and clients
Maintain the League’s high standard of neat and clean facilities in assigned work areas
Partner with Facilities and others as needed to ensure the League’s equipment is in good working order
Understand and support, as needed, the financial functions of the department including but not limited to accounts payable, payroll, and daily deposits
Represents the organization internally and externally with integrity, serving as an ambassador of the League’s mission and brand

Compensation: Starting at $55,000.00 - $59,000.00 (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, and equity)
