SUMMARY

The Development and Marketing Manager is a key position at Dorchester Paws that is responsible for the advance growth and development of Dorchester Paws. The position supports the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and Shelter Operations Manager with researching and setting up meeting with donors. They must have a passion for promoting Dorchester Paws’ mission and helping to secure the resources necessary to sustain the organization. They will need strong, collaborative, forward-thinking leadership in the planning and execution of cultivation, stewardship, development, and planned giving. His/her goal is to deepen relationships with current and prospective donors, to instill trust in the community, and stimulate new gifts. The position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with other members of the leadership team, Board of Directors, and various committees to achieve the organization’s fundraising and stewardship objectives. The position is a full-time, exempt salary position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

Build and nurture relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring the donor interests and passions are fulfilled by various actions, including personal visits, calls, e-mails, and ultimately serving as the primary contact for educating current and prospective donors on the annual needs and opportunities to ensure Dorchester Paws’ continued work in the community.
Create, implement, and execute a comprehensive Annual Fund plan to ensure goals are met for each source of contributed income, including fundraising events; grants; corporate sponsors, civic organizations and individuals; direct mail campaigns; online giving; and more.
Manage content, prospects, and invitation lists for special events and other prospecting/cultivation efforts.
Utilize a prospect management system and research potential donors as needed. Participate with the Executive
Director and members of the Board to secure major gifts from current donors and prospects and support leadership-giving efforts.

Researches, applies, and oversees timely and accurate completion of grant applications and required reports, including a schedule of upcoming grants and pending proposals.
Works closely with staff to identify opportunities to leverage additional donor support for grants.
In coordination with the Business Manager, manage Dorchester Paws’ donor database, implementing guidelines for usage, reporting, and gift acknowledgement procedures and maintaining and executing a system for timely stewardship.
Manages our Direct Mail Campaigns
Creates and posts useful information and content for the newsletter, website and social media platforms.
Prepare acknowledgment letters and other correspondences such as birthday, in memorial of, etc for Donor Stewardship
Assist with all tax recognition and tax letter mailings and overall tax info for donors in regards to their gifts
Own Monthly Donor Stewardship
Grow list of promotional partners that donate money back to Dorchester Paws
Manage fundraising platforms to ensure all paperwork, statuses, and documentation are up to date
Own corporate events such as Professional Paws, Destress with Pets, and others
Cultivate potential partnerships within the community and businesses
Maintain CRM and manage the platform accordingly
Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate foundations and individual donors
Fulfill sponsor commitments for events, programs, and similar projects
Document and recap grant and sponsors involvement for recaps
Assist in grant research including finding applicable grants and funding opportunities a well as writing
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.

Must be able to stand, walk, and move for extended periods of time. Must be able to have reliable transportation to

conduct all work in and out of the shelter in Summerville. This role requires flexibility and the ability to stand, lift, kneel,

crouch, and bend.

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of two years of experience in the development/stewardship field.
Track record of soliciting major gifts and managing a high net-worth portfolio of donors and prospects.
Skilled in managing multiple tasks simultaneously and successfully.
Ability and comfort with a significant degree of file organization, administrative support, and data entry.
Excellent attention to detail.
Must be proficient in CRM database management
Have knowledge in regards to Social Media
Excellent written and oral skills.
Must be self-guided individual requiring minimal supervision.
A high level of professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to be a team player are required.
Must know Word Press and have experience managing a website
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
