Job Description

Position Description: The Development Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and growing all of Pets Alive’s fundraising programs including major gifts, annual fund, planned giving, monthly giving, grants, special events and the capital campaign.
This is a full-time position with a varied schedule. Occasional weekends, early mornings or evenings may be required, as well as occasional travel.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
> Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communication with them.
> Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
> Conduct donor prospect research.
> Oversee grant-seeking including research, proposal writing and reporting requirements.
> Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
> Build the monthly giving program.
> Manage the ongoing annual fund, including mailings and fundraising drives.
> Oversee the capital campaign that is funding the new Community Resource and Adoption Center
> Manage online fundraising drives: Hudson Valley Gives, GivingGrids, GivingTuesday, etc.
> Plan and execute fundraising events.
> Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about Pets Alive with the community.
> Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
> Coordinate print/online collateral that supports fundraising activities.
> Attend weekly and monthly meetings representing Pets Alive – Rotary, Chambers of Commerce, etc.
> Produce biweekly e-newsletter.
> Produce monthly development report for Board of Directors.
> Oversee Virtual Assistant.
> Assist Executive Director as needed.

Education and/or Experience:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• 5+ years of development experience
• Individuals with experience working at an animal, environmental or conservation organization preferred.
• Demonstrated track record of accomplishment with individual donors, including major donors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong writing, grammar and editing skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft365
• Database management experience preferred; currently use CIVI
This position is a part of a small, hands-on team of dedicated professionals who perform a multitude of tasks.

Pay: $50,000 - $60,000 per year, DOE
Benefits: 401k, Paid time off
