Animal Care League is a private organization with 9 municipal contacts. We are committed to providing shelter, medical care, and comfort to animals in need, thus serving as a community resource and strengthening the human-animal bond. Our shelter sees an average of 1300 cats, dogs and rabbits each year as well as provides support to countless pets in the community. We keep lifesaving at the core of our work, support people who love their pets, and work collaboratively with the community to keep pets out of shelter. For over 50 years, our organization has been dedicated to helping animals in need in our local community while also supporting other organizations nationwide to have the largest impact on animals in need. We envision a world where every animal knows love and safety, and where every person is empowered to be an advocate.

Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization towards continued growth and success. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our operations and programing, including administration, finance, human resources, marketing & communications, events, and fundraising. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker motivated by lifesaving with fundraising skills, and a proven track record of success in nonprofit leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Expertise: Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the organization's mission and programs. This includes managing the capital campaign, cultivating and maintaining donor relationships, securing grants, organizing fundraising events, and exploring innovative revenue streams.
Leadership: Provide strong leadership and direction to staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Ensure effective communication and teamwork. Mentor, coach, and support departmental supervisors and managers, ensuring they have the training and resources they need to succeed in their roles. Lead talent management, implementing effective recruitment and development initiatives, and overseeing HR practices.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set organizational goals and priorities. Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve long-term objectives and ensure the organization's continued growth and success.
Creative Marketing: Utilize creative marketing strategies to increase visibility and support for the organization. Develop compelling messaging and branding initiatives to effectively communicate our mission and impact, promote our events, or ensure success of our campaigns.
Community Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, government agencies, and community partners. Actively engage with the public to promote awareness of our mission and programs.
Operations: Work closely with the operations leadership team to develop and execute major plans, ensuring coordinated operations and communication across teams. Support operations team in efforts to increase annual impact through programs and services including low cost spay/neuter and vaccine efforts as well as our thrift store.
Financial Management: Oversee the organization's financial health, including the preparation of the operating budget. Works closely with the finance committee to review budget, cash flow, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities for financial sustainability. Implement financial controls to ensure fiscal responsibility and long-term viability.
Reporting and Accountability: Provide regular reports and updates to the Board of Directors, detailing progress towards organizational goals, financial performance, and program outcomes. Maintain transparency and accountability in all aspects of operations
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing animal welfare organizations. Stay informed of best practices and emerging trends in the field. Manage organizational risk and personnel safety.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role within the nonprofit sector, animal welfare experience preferred
Proven track record of success in achieving financial goals
Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and regulations
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong understanding of animal welfare issues, best practices and a passion for making a difference in the lives of animals and communities.
Core competencies should include Finance, Communication, Marketing, Fundraising, Event Planning, and Business Acumen.
