Job Description

The Foster & Adoption Coordinator works to support the day to day operations of the foster program, while also executing adoptions to create lifelong bonds. This role is responsible for assisting the Volunteer Manager in all aspects of the foster program, ensuring that our foster program volunteers receive exceptional communication and have a positive experience. Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
Assist with foster program administration including correspondence, appointment scheduling, coordinating supply pickups, etc.
Support Volunteer Manager in weekly foster pleas, offering creative input on how to increase foster program participation
Assisting as directed with processing foster applications, conducting new foster screenings and onboarding
Assisting as directed with providing ongoing training and support to foster caregivers on animal care, behavior, and communication
Coordinate the placement of animals in foster homes based on their needs and foster caregiver availability
Track animal movement into and out of foster care
Monitor the health and well-being of animals in foster care and address any concerns with foster caregivers or veterinary staff
Facilitate communication between foster caregivers, shelter staff, and the public
Maintain accurate records of foster placements and program data
Manage and maintain a foster care supply inventory
Assist with adoption events and promote the foster program to the community
Managing incoming adoption applications and conducting initial screenings,
utilizing technology such as Zoom and Facetime as a tool to complete appointments/animal introductions
Managing adoption traffic during open hours, responding to adopter inquiries, conducting adoption appointments/screenings/counseling sessions,
Attending offsite adoption events
Assisting with promoting animals in the adoption program
Assisting with office duties, receiving and processing incoming donations, and other office support duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements
Exceptional customer service and communication skills
Foundational knowledge of animal behavior, medical care and responsibilities of pet ownership
Comfortable handling animals of all breeds, sizes and temperaments.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a customer service focused role
Minimum 1 year of animal handling experience
Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Strong computer skills, experience using Foster Keepers software is a plus!
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience

Previous animal shelter/adoption counseling/animal care experience is a huge plus! Bi-Lingual English/Spanish is a huge plus!
Part & full-time positions are available. Pay rate is dependent on experience but typically ranges from $14-$16/HR. This position requires some evening & weekend availability. A handling assessment/working interview is required as part of the interview process for this role. Candidates without the minimum requirements may not be considered.
