Job Description

The Foundation Relations Officer (FRO) reports to the Vice President of Development and works closely with members of the development team, senior leadership, the board of directors, and key volunteers at the SPCA of Texas. The FRO is responsible for developing strategies for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of foundations, organizations, and corporate prospects, with a focus on initiating, maintaining, and deepening relationships with the institutions on behalf of the SPCA of Texas. The position is responsible for a target of $2.5M+ in annual gifts closed.
The FRO role requires the leader to be collaborative, have a growth mindset, demonstrate integrity in all donor communications and interactions, and be able to balance both strategic thinking and build meaningful and transformative relationships on behalf of the SPCA of Texas. The FRO should have strong internal and external communication skills and be able to represent the mission of the SPCA of Texas in a professional, enthusiastic manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Build relationships with institutional donors and prospects to deeply engage them with the SPCA of Texas mission.
• Manage a donor portfolio of institutional donors, with specific visit, solicitation, and revenue goals.
• Maintain an annual grants calendar and institutional donor plans to coordinate cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship timelines.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders within the SPCA including program staff, senior leadership, volunteers, and committee members to stay current on program offerings and impact.
• Align institutional donor giving with the SPCA’s strategic priorities.
• Record and maintain donor strategies, information, and actions in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date subject matter knowledge related to job responsibilities and Institutional giving to deliver a robust range of high-touch donor engagement opportunities.
• Maintain ongoing familiarity with animal welfare research and trends.
• Assist the Vice President of Development and development team on special projects and events as they are identified.
• Other duties as assigned

• Must demonstrate the Core Values of the SPCA of Texas on and off the job.
• Raiser’s Edge knowledge and experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, internal and external communication, attention to detail, and ability to be self-motivated and disciplined.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data entry skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.

Working Conditions
• The individual performing this job may be required to work more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week.
• A minimum of (4) days in the office a week provides the ideal combination of in-person collaboration and career development opportunities while still providing flexibility and a work-life balance.


Monday thru Friday, 8AM to 5PM
