We are seeking an experienced Senior Major Gift Officer to join our team. This dynamic and passionate individual will focus on creating connections and inspiring high-level supporters, all while strategically meeting aggressive fundraising goals for APA!’s lifesaving mission.

In this role, you will collaborate with APA!’s Philanthropy team to grow major giving and nurture the major donor program. Responsibilities include implementing strategic direction for prospecting, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts, producing written materials for high-level supporters, and managing APA!’s portfolio of existing and prospective major donors.

This position offers a creative opportunity to expand an existing major gifts program into a foundation of loyal donors making a deeper impact. Duties and Responsibilities:
• Meet major gift revenue targets and build capacity for future growth.
• Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to implement comprehensive donor cultivation, communication, and solicitation strategies.
• Manage a portfolio of 75-85 major donors, bringing in new supporters and increasing major gift revenues.
• Create funding proposals and written collateral for donor cultivation and stewardship.
• Maintain timely contact reports, stewardship tracking, and forecasting.
• Prospect for new major donors and build the major donor pipeline.
• Plan and attend major donor engagement events and other fundraising events.
• Create personalized digital content for portfolio donors.
• Provide analysis and maintain an accurate donor portfolio in the database.
• Attend community networking events to identify prospective donors.
• Participate in the collaborative stewardship and cultivation work of the Philanthropy team.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of fundraising experience, including responsibility for substantial individual gifts and meeting revenue goals.
• Authentic passion for animals and animal welfare.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and donor management systems (preferably Virtuous).
• Extroverted, enjoys working with people, and skilled at inspiring engagement.
• Organized and adept at managing projects and processes.
• Proactive and independent in managing projects.
• Collaborative and able to work well with diverse groups.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed, particularly to attend sponsored events or donor engagement gatherings.
• Commitment to APA!’s mission and core values (innovation, respect, drive, resourcefulness, and inclusion), commitment to APA!'s customer experience expectations, and a commitment to working well with volunteers and staff in all roles.
• Must be able to routinely lift 40-50 pounds.
• Must be able to work around animals (including diseased, injured, and/or potentially aggressive animals), loud noises, and inclement weather.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 (based on experience)

Working Relations: This position reports directly to the Director of Philanthropy, Individual Giving.

Time Commitment: This is a full-time, exempt position of 40 hours weekly and may include weekends and evenings to support program needs.
