Job Description

Job Summary: The Ranch vet tech will work with Operations Manager and team members to ensure the health and safety needs of the ranch animals are being met as well as performing all Animal Care duties as needed, including but not limited to: meet and greets, adoptions, responding to phone calls, texts, and other inquiries from the public

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Communication with fosters as needed regarding any medical concerns
Assist with preparing for spay and neuter clinics
Assist with loading and unloading of mobile clinic
Working at the monthly spay and neuter clinic
Recording S/N surgeries for dogs and making them available in SL immediately upon return from the vet
Record any procedures/surgeries done at the vet in SL
Administering daily medications and treatments to dogs on the ranch
Tracking and maintaining health of Underdog Cats
Assisting AC staff with intakes by vaccinating, medically evaluating and microchipping dogs as they come into our care
Keeping medical tasks up to date and scheduling upcoming treatments/vaccines as needed for dogs on ranch.
Adding medical memos to our shelter management program as needed
Helping find solutions for the medical needs of foster dogs
Daily vet runs and documenting notes and follow up instructions from visits as well as attaching any paperwork
Insure medication board is up to date
Run Parvo, 4DX, Giardia tests if dogs are showing signs of illnesses
General Parvo care when needed
Wound care
Keeping medication inventory spreadsheet up to date
Communicate with Jennifer and Anna regarding any medical cases that can be used for fundraising or grants
Be part of the Animal Care team and assist with Animal Care tasks as needed
Insure dietary needs for dogs are being met
Required Skills and Traits:

Models and embodies the Underdog Rescue mission, vision, values, policies, and goals in actions and words
Must competently use the Google Suite, ShelterLuv software, web browsers, and other technology as necessary.
Must demonstrate leadership and be enthusiastic, self-motivated, team-oriented, and quality-improvement minded.
Must be professional, flexible, and able to handle difficult and sensitive situations with diplomacy and discretion.
Must understand and respect confidentiality, think strategically, prioritize, focus, and be customer oriented.
A Vet Tech license is not required, but competence in the field of veterinary animal care is essential
Mental, Physical, and Communication Demands:

Must have strong written and spoken English skills
Must perform a variety of light tasks, such as sitting and standing, lifting up to 35lbs occasionally, typing, writing, and answering phones.
Must work when and where needed by the organization. Must work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime when necessary.
Must work alone or with minimal supervision. Must be self motivated.
Must work under pressure with a public audience and have patience and tact when working with difficult, emotional, or angry people.
Must work safely around unruly, vicious, sick, injured, or dangerous animals.
Must work in an environment with elevated noise levels.
Must not have an allergic condition that prevents the employee from performing any essential function of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must handle animals as necessary.

Pay: From $39,250.00 per year
