Marion County Animal Services (MCAS) is excited to announce an opening for the Volunteer Coordinator position, following an internal promotion within our team. This pivotal role is ideal for someone passionate about animal welfare, community engagement, and program development.

As the Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in shaping and managing MCAS’s Volunteer Program. Your responsibilities will include:
-Delivering outstanding customer service to volunteers and the community.
-Managing marketing and public relations efforts to promote volunteerism.
-Conducting outreach and recruiting dedicated volunteers.
-Supervising, training, and recognizing volunteers to foster their growth and satisfaction.
-Engaging in hands-on activities such as interactive presentations, teaching, public speaking, animal handling, and community movement.

While some administrative office work is involved, this position thrives on active, community-focused engagement that brings volunteers together to support MCAS’s mission.

About Our Team:
You’ll join our dynamic Programs team, which includes a Programs Manager, four Program Coordinators, a Program Specialist, and the Volunteer Coordinator. Together, we oversee a variety of impactful programs, such as:
-Volunteers, Rescue, and Foster programs.
-Pathway Planning and Population Management.
-Playgroups, Pet Reunification, and Animal Enrichment.
-Community Outreach, Events, and our FIDO prison dog program.

About MCAS:
MCAS takes in approximately 9,000 animals annually, maintaining an impressive 90%+ live release rate while serving as the only open-admission municipal shelter in Marion County. We primarily care for dogs and cats but also work with pocket pets, birds, reptiles, and occasional small exotics.
