Behavior Division Manager, Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control

Alison Waszmer has been Behavior Division Manager for the Department of Animal Care and Control since 2017. Ali previously was shelter manager at the Westchester Humane Society where she oversaw shelter operations and daily care for all animals housed at the shelter. After her tenure at the Westchester Humane Society, Ali worked at Animal Care Centers of New York City (NYCACC) for two and a half years, first as the Volunteer Manager then as the Enrichment and Staff Training Supervisor, where she was able to practically apply all that she had learned about behavior, working with shelter animals, and their care-takers at a high-volume, open admission shelter. Ali then went on to work for Dogs Playing for Life as the Director of Program Development. Ali earned a Certificate in Training and Counseling from the SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers in 2009, graduating with honors. She is also a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and Shelter Behavior Affiliate through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. She also holds a Certified Pet Dog Trainer- Knowledge Assessed certification. In her spare time Ali also enjoys paddle boarding and bouldering.
