Animal Protection Officer II, Denver Animal Protection

Imagine yourself wading through an icy river to rescue a large dog stuck on an island of ice, or setting up an emergency shelter for 100 dogs that were in a vehicle accident in the mountains of Colorado. Daniel Ettinger can share those experiences along with many others. In 2009 he was introduced to animal welfare as a volunteer for a wolf sanctuary and the Denver Animal Shelter. He is currently an Animal Protection Officer II and the lead Field Training Officer for Denver Animal Protection. He values the art of verbal de-escalation and takes pride in generating voluntary compliance. Daniel has worked on ordinance revisions, state legislation and department policy. He is nationally recognized for his public speaking and is a valued member of the animal welfare community. His passion radiates in person and through his involvement on social media and podcasts. He is dedicated to helping with the advancement of the animal welfare profession. His innovative sessions challenge the dog catcher and dog pound stereotype which offer ideas of consistency and professionalism.
