Heather Schrader
Program Manager, Student Outreach, Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association
As program manager of student outreach for the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association, Heather Schrader works with veterinary students to raise awareness of animal welfare and advocacy issues. She’s been working with animals for over 25 years, starting in high school as a volunteer at a wildlife rehabilitation center. She became a registered veterinary technician in 2002 and worked for several years in private practice. Heather graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in marine science and a master’s degree in criminal justice. She and her husband, Jeffrey, share their home with two special needs kitties, Barnabus and Murdock, and their annoying (but adorable) sister, Poppy.
