John Thompson

John Thompson is a retired police chief with 30 years of law enforcement experience and currently serves as the Executive Director of the National Animal Care and Control Association. He has over twenty five year of experience as an instructor, teaching Emotional Intelligence, Critical Communication and De-escalation Techniques. John has been recognized nationally for his work in changing the way law enforcement thinks about animal welfare. He was named one of the Animal Legal Defense Fund's, Top Animal Defenders and received the Humane Society of the United States’, Humane Leadership award. Most recently he received the prestigious Albert Schweitzer Medal from the Animal Welfare Institute.
