President, Alliance for Contraception in Cats & Dogs

Joyce has worked in management positions in animal welfare since 1995 at the US or international level, with a strong connection to local animal shelters. She has a special passion for and focus on innovating effective, humane population control. As president of ACC&D since 2008, Joyce works to advance non-surgical alternatives to control dog and cat populations, in order to save more lives. As executive director of PetSmart Charities (1999-2005) she guided investment in innovation for high quality, high volume spay/neuter approaches, as well as redistribution of shelter pets, to save lives via transport programs. With the American Humane Association (1995-1999) she developed and launched the first marketing materials for pediatric sterilization. As a consultant to Banfield, the Pet Hospital, Joyce helped create an Animal Shelter Advisory Board and the industry transition to an iso standard microchip reader. Joyce is co-founder of and active with the Animal Shelter Alliance of Portland (OR) which has completed >100K cat spays for low-income owners in < 10 years, increasing the regional save rate to 96%. Joyce has a Masters from Northwestern University: her first career was in advertising and corporate product management for U.S. national brands.
