Kathleen Summers
Director of outreach and research, Stop Puppy Mills campaign, the Humane Society of the United States
Kathleen Summers has been with the HSUS Stop Puppy Mills campaign since 2006 and is currently its director of outreach and research. She manages the campaign’s top research, education and outreach initiatives, and has also been the key writer of more than 30 HSUS reports on puppy mills, pet stores and other aspects of the pet sales industry. She leads the team that researches and creates the annual Horrible Hundred report on problem puppy sellers. She is also frequently interviewed on topics related to responsible pet acquisition and puppy mills. Her family includes three humans, three dogs, three lizards and a 10-year-old hermit crab named SpongeBob.
