Director, Behavior Change Strategies, Impact By Design

Dr. Lauren Watkins specializes in environmental psychology and has over a decade of experience applying human behavior science to projects for nonprofits, zoos, aquariums, and parks in the U.S. and around the world. She is currently the director of behavior change strategies for Impact by Design, a nonprofit consulting firm that helps organizations develop the capabilities to maximize impact for animals, people, and the environment. Lauren works with clients on social science research and building campaigns to influence human behavior. Some examples of the work she has helped teams and organizations explore include:

The pet trade and predictors of human behavior that lead people to acquire exotic pets; How communities care for their pets and how they perceive companion animal issues and messaging; Training animal welfare organizations to work with indigenous communities in building dog population management programs; and Behaviors that drive deforestation in Tanzania and strategies for community-based conservation.
