Ross Mauck

Statistician, JVR Shelter Strategies, LLC

Mauck is a computer specialist with multiple years of experience in software development, computational physics, and data analysis. He leverages technology to solve problems that face the animal welfare community. Ross Mauck joined the JVR Shelter Strategies group in early 2016. Primarily responsible for data analysis for the team, he utilizes animal informatics to help guide strategic decisions and provide descriptive statistics. Mauck works to expand the way animal data is used and visualized. He maintains the open-source animal informatics website, known as Hadibah, used for promoting interaction with animal welfare organization data. With years of experience growing up around field data-collection of a population of burrowing seabirds on a remote biological research station in the middle of the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia, he finds animal data and applied statistics commonplace. Focusing on academic research, he specialized in computationally intensive cosmological simulations written in CUDA/C++. Mauck received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Kenyon College with a Mathematics minor and Scientific Computing concentration. He currently resides in the SF Bay Area.
