Shannon Martin Roebuck
Executive Director, Capital Humane Society
Shannon Martin-Roebuck serves as the executive director of Capital Humane Society in Lincoln, NE. She is skilled in strategic planning, process improvement, project leadership, team building, program development and community outreach. Prior to her service with Capital Humane Society, Martin-Roebuck served as research faculty at Colorado School of Mines focusing on diversity, equity, inclusion and college access. As director of operations for Higher Education Resource Services (HERS), a nonprofit dedicated to creating and sustaining a diverse network of women leaders in higher education at the University of Denver, she served as budget officer, developed process improvements, and provided strategic direction for the organization. Her doctoral research interests include organizational effectiveness, nonprofit leadership, creating inclusive communities, diversity in STEM, the effect of poverty on educational attainment, Critical Race Theory, college access, and student persistence. She holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Regis University and received her BA in Art History from Mansfield University. She and her husband, Tony, are the proud parents of a Morehouse Man and two dogs.
