We're a large, open-admission municipal shelter with an annual intake of over 12,000 animals (2024). About the Role
Be part of a dynamic, compassionate medical team where your expertise makes a real difference! As our Veterinary Technician Supervisor, you'll collaborate with Clinic leadership, train and onboard new Clinic staff, and help save lives every day.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and train veterinary assistants, including onboarding and skill development
• Prepare educational materials and track training progress
• Perform and teach advanced procedures: surgical assistance (including high-volume spay/neuter), anesthesia, diagnostics, emergency care, and humane euthanasia
• Handle animals of all kinds – from companion pets to exotics, livestock, and horses
• Manage medical records in our shelter software
• Identify inefficiencies and implement innovative solutions
What We're Looking For:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 3 years of experience training/leading others in a veterinary or shelter setting
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and a valid Florida driver's license
• Commitment to high standards of care, professionalism, and teamwork
Bonus Points For:
• 5+ years in veterinary/shelter medicine
• Experience in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter programs
• Supervisory role experience
• Certified Veterinary Technician credential
• Degree in Veterinary Technology
• Training/teaching certifications or protocol writing
• Fluency in Spanish and/or Creole

• Full-time: 40 hours/week (variable, including evenings, weekends, holidays, on-call, and emergencies)
