SALARY RANGE: $70,000.00 - $77,000.00 Annually
HOURS: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. including some evenings and weekends as needed

POSITION SUMMARY
We are pleased to offer the current job opportunity for a Senior Animal Client Services Supervisor position in the Animal Services Department. DuPage County Animal Services (DCAS) is an immediate open admission shelter caring for more than 2,300 animals of varying species annually.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include:

Assigns, delegates, supervises, and inspects the work of subordinate staff engaged in the work of animal client services (e.g., animal intake and outcome, rabies compliance, animal care resources, all public facing animal related concerns received by phone, email or in-person).
Trains new employees on job skills, operations, and procedures
Reviews reports, transaction records, and other documents to ensure appropriate follow up actions are taken to resolve animal outcomes and shorten length of stay when possible
Monitors the work performance of staff, prepares performance evaluations, and initiates corrective action as required
Promotes positive morale, creativity, and teamwork among staff
Maintains strong relationship with other team supervisors to streamline operations, improve customer service, and keep animal lengths of stay as short as possible
Spends time with and remains updated on animals in the facility; ensures front office and other key staff remain informed of animal attributes and current status to make the best possible match/recommendation/placement
Stays informed of trends and best practices impacting animal welfare, animal control, animal sheltering, adoption, etc. and makes recommendations for policies and procedures accordingly
Answers complex inquiries by providing information that requires interpretation and familiarity with divisional policy procedure and operations
Records and maintains written logs (e.g., animal and person memos related to intake or outcome for animals)
Prepares various operational, productivity and work reports for use by management
Makes recommendations on tools, software, and procedures to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness
Assists public in adopting, surrendering, or reclaiming animals
Coordinates and oversees the annual rabies tag distribution process for veterinary partners and direct to the public


REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences, or closely related field

Three (3) years of experience working in an animal control, animal shelter or other animal related field

One (1) year in a supervisor role; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above

Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid Illinois Drivers' license

A pre-employment background check is required.

The work environment for this position will involve some administrative work and will includes working with loud animals on concrete floors and being exposed to unfavorable odors. Will be subject to animal bites and/or scratches.
