Bachelor's degree in animal welfare, veterinary science, animal science, business administration, public administration, or closely related field and five years of high-level management or executive experience in overseeing an animal care program, veterinary clinic and/or program, or animal shelter, which includes policy development and process improvement and three of the five years must be as a supervisor in animal services; or a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
A valid Florida Driver License is required and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets the requirements of Alachua County policy # 6-7; Motor Vehicle Records will be reviewed prior to employment. If in the past 24-month period, the record shows more than 3 moving traffic violations, and/or a conviction/pending charge for driving under the influence, the minimum qualifications are not met for the position.
