Are you passionate about animal welfare and skilled in leadership? We’re seeking a dedicated Shelter Supervisor to oversee our Client Services and Animal Care teams. This role combines hands-on animal care, staff supervision, and operational management to make a tangible difference in the lives of animals (cats, dogs, turtles, and more!) and their future families.NOCO Humane is an independent nonprofit working to further the compassionate, safe, and responsible relationship between animals and people.
Position: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Schedule: 5X8 schedule. Shifts can start as early as 730AM and end as late as 730PM. A weekend shift is a requirement.
Expected hiring range is $21.75 to $24.00 per hour commensurate with applicable animal welfare experience and education. Closes June 4th, 2025 or when filled.
What You’ll Do:
• Supervise Client Services and Animal Care staff, including training and development.
• Step in to perform animal care and client services duties as needed.
• Act as the primary escalation point for client and animal care issues.
• Assist in hiring, performance reviews, scheduling, and team recognition.
• Manage shelter inventory, supplies, and store operations (where applicable).
• Oversee off-site adoption events and partnerships.
• Ensure compliance with PACFA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
• Participate in euthanasia procedures and training.
• Support volunteer recruitment and management efforts.
• Collaborate with Shelter Manager(s) on budgeting, planning, and operational improvements.
What We’re Looking For:
Education/Experience:
• Associate’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a similar-sized organization or 2 years managing volunteers.
• Prior professional animal welfare/care experience (personal pet ownership does not meet this requirement).
• Experience working with the public in a customer-focused role.
Skills & Knowledge:
• Knowledge of animal care, behavior, and handling.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn shelter-specific software.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus (includes wage premium).
Other Requirements:
• Ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License and insurance.
• Willingness to become euthanasia and vaccination certified.
• Must be 21+ for insurance purposes.
