Job Description

The Animal Transfer Coordinator facilitates transfers from Oakland Animal Services (OAS), the City of Oakland’s animal shelter, to nonprofit adoption partners and other outside agencies. The Animal Transfer Coordinator oversees the OAS transfer program, including cultivating positive working relationships with partner shelters, selecting appropriate animals for transfer (in collaboration with other staff members), and maintaining communication internally and externally about animals being transferred. The transfer role includes all species, with a strong focus on big dogs, requiring experience working with dogs with behavioral challenges or who are not doing well in a stressful shelter environment.
