Are you interested in a part-time development opportunity that will impact the lives of homeless cats?

Gifford Cat Shelter – the first free-roam, no-kill shelter in the country – seeks a Development Manager to oversee all functions related to raising funds for the shelter, including individual donations, corporate giving, fundraisers, etc. Working closely with the Shelter Director and Board of Directors, this critical role is focused on driving revenue generation and performing associated administrative activities.

Major Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Shelter Director and Board of Directors to drive forward the overall goals and mission of the organization, including revenue generation and financial administration.
• Strategize and execute regarding:
• Fundraising/Revenue Generation – Use company CRM/datasets and industry available tools for donor prospecting, outreach, relationship cultivation, and other network and donor engagement. Perform such activities as donor acknowledgements/thank you cards.
• Marketing – Use various outreach methods, including marketing emails/appeals, social media, TV/radio appearances, etc. to network with current and future supporters, while increasing awareness of Gifford Cat Shelter.
• Events – With help and insight from operational staff, the board, and volunteers, strategize, organize, and execute shelter events, including supply drives, fundraising events, and donor tours.
• Work collaboratively and independently to progress shelter initiatives.
• Become knowledgeable about day-to-day shelter activities to allow consideration of operational activities regarding event management and other revenue generating activities.
• Actively invite members of the public and potential donors to visit the shelter and interface politely with all people visiting the shelter.
• Work alongside and guide volunteers assisting in fundraising activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Passion for cats!
• Several years’ experience in fundraising and marketing and/or revenue generation for a non-profit
• Experience working in CRM software, Bloomerang a strong plus
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with a take-charge attitude
• Strong customer service/client-facing skills
• Strong commercial aptitude
