Job Description
Full-time, Remote (preferably in the New York region)As a member of a lean team with outsized impact, this person will wear many hats and serve a variety of functions in close collaboration with the Executive Director and Program Director. Core responsibilities include financial management, fundraising, communications, and program support.
Administration:
In partnership with the Executive Director and Treasurer, assist with financial activities, including preparing reports and documentation for auditors and donors, and creating and updating organization and project budgets.
Liaise with software vendors and work with their support teams to troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
Develop, monitor, and improve internal operational processes to maximize efficiency and smooth workflow.
Development:
Help devise and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to increase and diversify funding support.
Identify, solicit and administer grants from new foundations.
Draft and edit proposals, reports and acknowledgments, and maintain a schedule of donor touchpoints throughout the year.
Cultivate and steward relationships with individual and institutional donors.
Ensure the currency and integrity of donation data in our CRM fundraising database.
Track programmatic and financial progress toward restricted grant deliverables.
Communications:
Contribute content and editorial support to the production and distribution of information across HEART’s online channels, including e-newsletters, blog and social media posts, website pages, marketing and curricular materials.
Represent HEART at conferences, events and stakeholder meetings.
Draft press releases and cultivate relationships with relevant media outlets.
Program Support:
Act as a thought partner to the Executive Director and Program Director on strategic priorities, as well as on high-level program planning and implementation, impact assessment, and promotion.
Drive innovation by researching and evaluating new opportunities for growth and program development.
Desired Qualifications and Attributes
B.A. or B.S. required (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit management or equivalent.
Outstanding organizational and project management skills.
Close and consistent attention to detail.
Strong orientation toward process development and improvement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with budget development, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
Experience with fundraising—particularly securing and stewarding grants—with a strong grasp of fundraising best practices.
Tech-savviness; fluency with a broad range of technology platforms and the ability to master unfamiliar software quickly.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build strong working relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders.
Strong work ethic and impeccable personal integrity and discretion.
Highly motivated self-starter, natural networker, and strategic innovative thinker.
Commitment to animal protection, social justice, and environmental preservation.
Compensation:
