Salary: $75,000-$85,000 (potential to $100,000+ with fundraising goals)
About HARC
Harmony Animal Rescue Clinic is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and North Carolina's only veterinary practice dedicated exclusively to serving non-profit pet rescue organizations. Since founding in 2020, HARC has served 120+ rescue organizations, treated 11,000+ animals, and performed 9,100+ surgeries.
Role Overview
HARC seeks a strategic, mission-driven Executive Director to lead the organization's next phase of growth. This leader will champion the vision, build community connections, and architect the future while working closely with the medical director, Board of Directors, and staff leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
Drive long-term planning with the Board, report on goals and finances, and lead annual strategy retreats.
Operations & Program Management
Ensure high-quality veterinary care, partner with the Medical Director to boost efficiency, and implement quality assurance initiatives.
Financial Management
Manage $500K+ annual budget with transparency, lead vendor and cash flow management, and streamline operations.
Fundraising & Development
Lead diversified fundraising strategy, steward major donors ($1,000+), oversee grant writing ($75,000+ annually), and drive signature events and corporate partnerships.
Marketing & Communications
Serve as HARC's voice in media and community, guide brand strategy, and develop messaging for public engagement.
Team Leadership & HR
Attract and retain talent, create professional development opportunities, and shape a values-driven workplace culture.
Community Partnerships
Cultivate relationships with rescue partners, represent HARC at industry events, and expand networks with veterinary schools and advocacy coalitions.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of non-profit leadership and fundraising experience
- Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred)
- Strong fundraising background ($150,000+ annually)
- Experience managing teams of 10+ and budgets of $500K+
- Passion for animal welfare
- Veterinary/animal welfare background
