Job Description

Description:

HSSC is seeking an Experienced Foster Coordinator to join our lifesaving team!
Hourly Rate: Starting at $21.00+ based on experience | Excellent Benefits

Are you energized by connecting caring homes with dogs and cats in need? Do you have experience with neonatal puppy and kitten care? Do you thrive managing programs, building relationships, and engaging communities? As our Foster Coordinator, you will own the end-to-end success of HSSC's foster care program. From recruiting and training new foster families to ensuring DVM-approved treatment plans are executed flawlessly, you'll be the bridge between our shelter, medical teams, and adoptive homes. Because of our volume of neonatal kittens, your expertise in neonatal care—including bottle feeding, temperature regulation, and weight monitoring—will be essential.

Why HSSC?

The Humane Society of Sarasota (HSSC) operates a no-kill animal shelter located in Sarasota, FL. We provide compassionate care for 3,000 cats and dogs annually, of which hundreds rely on our network of foster families. Our growing foster program needs an experienced foster coordinator to ensure the most vulnerable animals in our shelter receive the expert care they need. The Foster Coordinator should have experience coordinating a large group of foster homes and be adept at neonatal care. We are a growing organization committed to expanding lifesaving programs, fostering collaboration, and educating communities to build a No-Kill Florida. The Lifesaving Services department drives lifesaving strategies to create a more ethical future for companion animals across Florida. Through rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming, we give dogs and cats a second chance, while empowering communities to join the no-kill mission.

Be Part of a Mission That Matters

Placement & Ongoing Support: Match neonates, medical or behavior-challenged pets with ideal caregivers; coordinate pick-ups/returns, troubleshoot issues, and provide regular check-ins.

Medical & Behavioral Oversight: Conduct intake exams (vaccines, diagnostics), oversee neonatal bottle-feeding and DVM-approved treatment plans, and ensure accurate record-keeping in ShelterLuv.

Program Promotion & Outreach: Partner on social media, events, and marketing materials; guide foster families in creating adoption profiles to boost visibility and placements.

Cross-Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly with intake, medical, and adoption teams; evaluate program metrics and feedback to refine processes; cross-train in related roles for operational continuity.

Staff & Volunteer Education: Develop and present targeted workshops on foster care best practices, medical procedures, and disease prevention.
