General Manager Los Angeles Animal Services DepartmentThe City of Los Angeles is seeking a transformative, strategic, and mission-driven leader to serve as the next General Manager of the Los Angeles Animal Services Department.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Leading innovative changes while fostering trust and morale within the department and with volunteers.
• Representing the department with integrity in interactions across a range of stakeholders even when views differ or tensions run high.
• Engaging employees and frontline staff in building a culture of customer service, innovation, accountability, and results oriented solutions.
• Balancing public expectations with operational realities and building solutions that are data-informed, transparent, and sustainable.
• Navigating budget constraints creatively and exploring partnerships and innovative revenue strategies.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking candidates with proven executive or senior-level management experience in a large, diverse, and complex organization, with a track record of delivering operational results and leading organizational change. Previous experience in animal services is welcome, but not required.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Ten years of full-time, paid, professional managerial experience in a public, private, or nonprofit agency.
Compensation & Application
The current salary range is $205,542 to $364,335 per year, accompanied by a highly competitive benefits package.
The General Manager is an exempt, at-will management position appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
