Job Description

The position oversees mobile adoptions and rescue programming at the SPCA of Texas, ensuring operational excellence, strong external partnerships, and lifesaving outcomes for animals. This role manages staff and volunteers, improves processes, and supports collaboration across departments to maximize the impact of lifesaving initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

Mobile Adoptions & Community Engagement

• Oversee the mobile adoption event program, including cultivating new partnerships and stewarding existing relationships.

• Ensure mobile adoption events are well-staffed, efficiently executed, and aligned with lifesaving goals while enhancing the SPCA of Texas’ reputation in the community.

• Partner with the Development team to transport and showcase adoptable pets at fundraising and corporate partner events.

• In partnership with the Sr. Manager of Lifesaving Programs and Sr. Director of Lifesaving Operations, assist with retail ordering and inventory management to meet annual revenue goals.

Team Leadership & Volunteer Engagement

• Manage and support Mobile Adoption and Rescue staff and volunteers through ongoing training and development, with a focus on lifesaving, customer service, and the human-animal bond.

• Collaborate with the volunteer department to identify needs and fill key volunteer roles for mobile adoption and rescue programs.

• Actively engage with volunteers to provide support, foster collaboration, and continuously improve the volunteer experience.

• Contribute to the success of all Lifesaving Operations programs by supervising other program areas in the absence of their leadership, collaborating on program ideas, and offering staffing support when needed.

Rescue & Transport Programs

• Maintain and grow the rescue partner and transport network by cultivating new partnerships and identifying transport opportunities.

• Oversee all aspects of the canine transport program, ensuring adherence to safe transport guidelines, accurate paperwork, and timely communication with partners.

• Select appropriate animals for rescue transfer and transport, considering shelter space, medical needs, and behavioral considerations.

Cross-Department Collaboration & Animal Placement

• Collaborate with Animal Care, Behavior, and Medical teams, and participate in weekly shelter rounds to identify and prioritize animals for placement through adoption or rescue, ensuring they are fast-tracked to their final outcome.

• Work closely with the foster team to identify animals in foster care that are ready for adoption or suitable for rescue transfer or transport and to secure temporary placements for animals awaiting transport.

• Continuously improve adoption and rescue processes to enhance the customer experience and increase placement rates.

Adopter Experience & Recordkeeping

• Provide post-adoption support to improve adopter satisfaction and reduce returns.

• Maintain organized records for adoption and rescue programs, ensuring partnership and adopter information is accurately documented in shelter software.

• Safeguard the confidentiality of fosters, adopters, and animals associated with the SPCA of Texas.

Organizational Representation

• Demonstrate outstanding customer service to fosters, volunteers, staff, and adopters.

• Represent the SPCA of Texas in a positive, professional manner at all times.

• Act as an ambassador for the organization by sharing its mission and promoting ways to support its lifesaving work.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2 years of experience supervising paid or unpaid staff

• Minimum 2 years demonstrated sales or customer service experience

• Strong customer service and sales/marketing skills a must.

• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.

• Excellent organization skills.

• Ability to analyze processes for continuous improvement.

• Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite Programs.

• Must demonstrate the Core Values of the SPCA of Texas on and off the job.

• Must be 21 years old to meet insurance requirements and must be qualified and licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Texas.

• Must be patient, courteous and work well with all internal and external parties.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

• The ability to work effectively under stressful conditions and in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

• Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.

• While performing the duties of this job this position may be exposed to animal odors or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally high.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• This position is a minimum of 40 hours per week.

• This position requires a flexible scheduled, with transports often requiring overnight support and events predominantly occurring in the evenings or on the weekends.

Work Schedule - Wednesday through Sunday from 9am to 6pm - Schedule does require a high level of flexibility
