Job Description

The Manager, Board Support & Executive Liaison serves as a strategic partner to the President & CEO and senior leadership team, ensuring organizational alignment, operational excellence, and effective governance support. This role manages high-priority initiatives, facilitates cross-department collaboration, and strengthens communication between leadership, staff, and the Board of Directors to advance the mission of the SPCA of Texas.



Summary of Essential Responsibilities:



Executive and Organizational Leadership Support – 40%

• Facilitate the President & CEO’s ability to effectively lead the organization by managing priorities, communications, and strategic initiatives.

• Manage high-level and complex projects from initiation through completion, ensuring accountability, adherence to timelines, and successful outcomes under deadline pressures.

• Develop presentations, reports, and briefing materials for leadership, Board meetings, and staff communications.

• Serve as a trusted liaison between senior leadership and all departments, ensuring alignment on organizational priorities, decisions, and initiatives.

• Represent the organization professionally at meetings, events, and community engagements as requested.



Board Relations and Governance – 15%

• Serve as primary liaison to the Board of Directors, coordinating meetings, agendas, materials, travel, and communications to support effective governance.

• Handle Board relations with discretion and professionalism, ensuring timely follow-through on Board requests and action items.

• Support preparation of board packets, minutes, and presentations.

• Assist with the annual audit process and preparation of IRS Form 990 documentation.



Organizational Operations and Process Improvements – 20%

• Manage internal operations to create an organized, efficient, and welcoming office environment while supporting day-to-day administrative functions.

• Refine internal processes and systems to improve efficiency, communication, and service delivery across the organization.

• Connect siloed departments by facilitating communication, collaboration, and shared problem-solving.

• Identify and resolve conflicts, operational challenges, and bottlenecks within or between departments.

• Ensure organizational safety standards and compliance requirements are maintained.



Communications and Relationship Management – 15%

• Oversee internal communications to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment across the organization.

• Support the CEO in cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors, partners, community leaders, and key stakeholders.

• Serve as a central point of contact for internal and external constituencies, exercising sound judgment and confidentiality



Administrative and Operational Excellence - 10%

• Coordinate leadership meetings, travel, and organizational events.

• Support office management functions including vendor coordination, records management, and administrative processes.

• Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, punctuality, dependability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Maintain discretion, professionalism, and a mission-driven approach in all interactions.



Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of nonprofit management or executive support experience preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to work across departments and influence without direct authority.

• Confident proficiency with technology platforms and business systems, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and the ability to quickly learn and leverage new software to improve organizational effectiveness.

• Experience utilizing project management tools (such as Asana, Monday.com, Smartsheet, Trello, or similar platforms) to manage complex initiatives, track deliverables, and ensure accountability across multiple stakeholders.

• Exceptional ability to remain calm, confident, and decisive under high-pressure situations, competing priorities, and tight deadlines while maintaining professionalism and sound judgment.

• Strong organizational agility with the capacity to shift between strategic and tactical work seamlessly.

• High level of discretion, emotional intelligence, and resilience when managing sensitive information and complex interpersonal dynamics.

Applicant Information:

• The individual performing this job may be required to work more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week.
