About Us:
Celebrating its 25th year, PAWS is a Palau non-profit corporation. In January 2019 PAWS set up its own low-overhead facility to run spay/neuter clinics, and in 2021 PAWS hired its own veterinarian. Since then we have performed over 2,500 sterilization surgeries for the Palau community, nationwide, both in-clinic and in field outreach settings. Our goal is to sterilize 70% of the dogs and cats in Palau, as a humane means of population control. This will directly improve the zoonotic disease transmission potential and public health issues arising from Palau's domestic animal population and follows the 'One Health' approach, where Healthier Pets Make Healthier Humans! Our veterinary practice primarily treats cats and dogs, focusing on sterilization but also offers a full range of affordable medical services to the Palau community.
Famous for its world-class scuba diving (https://pristineparadisepalau.com/), Palau is a developing island nation in the western Pacific with a population of ~20,000 people. The main population center in Palau is the town of Koror where the PAWS clinic currently resides. Thirteen other states are accessible from Koror, none with regular veterinary care and all with small animal overpopulation problems. Palau is amazingly beautiful with famous underwater wonders such as Blue Corner and Jellyfish Lake. If you love lush, green tropical islands with cobalt blue seas, Palau for you!
