::About the Role::
As a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) on our Surgical Team, you’ll play a critical role in delivering high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter services to both shelter animals and community pets. You’ll ensure safe anesthesia, smooth surgical flow, and compassionate patient care—from induction to recovery.
Much of this work happens aboard our Mobile Medical Unit, where teamwork, adaptability, and humor are essential in close quarters. You’ll help expand access to veterinary care for families and pets who need it most while working alongside skilled, supportive professionals who share your commitment to animal welfare.
::What You’ll Do::
Perform surgical prep, induction, intubation, monitoring, and recovery for up to 20 animals per day.
Administer and document medications, vaccines, microchips, and fluids.
Manage anesthetic complications and follow RECOVER CPR protocols when needed.
Maintain surgical and anesthesia equipment, ensuring aseptic technique and safety.
Conduct pre- and post-op patient assessments and prepare take-home instructions.
Assist veterinarians during procedures and community outreach events such as pop-up wellness or vaccine clinics.
Mentor veterinary assistants and volunteers in anesthesia and surgical care.
Maintain accurate digital medical records and foster clear communication across the team.
::What We’re Looking For::
Licensed Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in North Carolina (required).
Experience in veterinary or high-volume spay/neuter settings (preferred).
Proficiency in anesthesia, venipuncture, and surgical assistance.
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Compassionate and nonjudgmental approach to client and community interactions.
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
::Work Environment::
This position involves standing, bending, and lifting (up to 60 lbs) for long periods. Our team works hard—and laughs hard—in a physically and emotionally demanding environment that’s always rewarding. The Medical Team operates Monday–Thursday, giving you a consistent four-day workweek and long weekends to recharge.
