Job Description

The Senior Animal Care Technician leads and oversees the work of shelter staff, providing training, assigning tasks, and ensuring proper animal care, facility cleanliness, and adherence to safety practices. They assist with feeding, medical care, euthanasia, animal behavior evaluations, and adoption programs, while maintaining accurate records and delivering excellent customer service. Acting as a role model, they support a positive team environment, represent the department to the public, and help coordinate rescue efforts and community outreach events.

Typical Qualifications:

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an animal care environment involving handling, sheltering, and caring for animals. Coursework in animal science or a related field is preferred.
Certification in Euthanasia by injection is required.
Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds.
Must have the flexibility to work an adjusted schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
