The Animal Protective League (APL) in Springfield, Illinois is an established animal welfare organization that operates a HVHQ spay/neuter clinic and limited-admission animal shelter. APL is dedicated to ending pet overpopulation in our community through spay/neuter and adoption. We envision a world in which high-quality veterinary care is affordable and accessible to all animals and families in our community. Since opening in 2006, our clinic has performed more than 200,000 sterilization surgeries for locally owned pets, community cats, and other shelters.We are seeing compassionate, enthusiastic, and like-minded full-/part-time veterinary surgeons to join us in making a positive impact on the lives of pets and their human companions in the Central Illinois area! Our staff veterinarians enjoy collaborating on individual cases and mentoring new doctors. HVHQSN offers the ability to care for the patients you love with minimal client interaction. Our workdays are predictable with no late nights, no holidays, and no on-call.
Our clinic performs 10,000+ surgeries and 1,000+ wellness visits per year. Clinic veterinarians are responsible for performing 30-40 surgeries daily, seeing rechecks, working occasional wellness clinics, and treating shelter pets on an as-needed basis. The opportunity to perform other surgeries (amputations, enucleations, etc) is also available.
