Who You Are:
We’re seeking a compassionate and skilled Community Medicine Veterinarian to join our full-time team. In this role, you’ll deliver Access to Care in the form of preventive and basic medical care to dogs and cats in the Los Angeles region. Our focus encompasses access to care, treating a variety of ailments and injuries, and performing minor procedures and dentals. Services are provided at our stationary clinics and include examinations, diagnostics, and treatments for conditions manageable with reasonable resources and a high likelihood of positive outcomes.

Responsibilities:
Medical (75%):
• Provide high-quality, compassionate, preventive, and basic medical care to patients in underserved areas of Los Angeles
• Oversee all aspects of veterinary care during clinic days, including physical examinations, diagnostics, treatment recommendations and delivery, prescriptions, and discharge information
• Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high-quality surgical procedures at our stationary clinics
• Diagnose and treat post-surgical complications
• Refer and triage cases that fall outside CAMP’s scope of care as appropriate
Customer Service (15%):
• Communicate respectfully with clients, conveying critical medical information about patients
• Discuss examination and medical test results with owners to facilitate informed decisions about their pets’ care
• Present treatment options on an incremental care basis
• Provide discharge instructions and oversee the dispensing of medications
• Counsel owners about end-of-life and other sensitive medical care decisions
Administrative/Other (10%):
• Document all exam findings, test results, and treatment recommendations in medical records
• Adhere to CAMP’s Standard Operating Procedures
• Attend staff and doctor meetings
• Assist in writing, editing, and updating protocols for the Community Animal Medicine Project
• Foster a culture of respect, belonging, and teamwork through regular one-on-one meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent
• Current California Veterinary License
• Background in small animal medicine and surgery
• Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with clients and staff
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and the ability to manage online calendars
• Outstanding work attendance record
• Fluency in English required; bilingual in Spanish or other languages is a plus
• Passion for animal welfare and enhancing accessibility to underserved populations
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinic environment
• Flexibility and willingness to occasionally extend work hours beyond the scheduled end of the day
