Staff Veterinarian - Kanab, UT

Location: Kanab, Utah (Relocation assistance available) Hiring Range: $132,000–$165,000 annually, based on experience + benefits.

Join Best Friends Animal Society to provide high-quality veterinary care for animals in need while helping to advance a no-kill mission. Veterinarians at Best Friends work across various fields:

· Shelter Medicine: Aid dogs and cats from under-resourced shelters.

· Exotics Care: Provide for birds, rabbits, and wildlife rehabilitation.

· Large Animals: Treat horses, goats, pigs, and others in the new equine clinic.

· Spay/Neuter Services: Perform critical high-volume, high-quality surgeries.

· Urgent & General Care: Respond to routine and emergency cases.

Responsibilities:

· Diagnose and treat animals, including performing surgeries like spay/neuter.

· Maintain knowledge of shelter medicine, disease prevention, and care protocols.

· Lead by example with kindness, respect, and professionalism in interactions.

· Mentor veterinary students and staff, ensure a safe clinic environment, and communicate with shelters and adopters.

· Collaborate with team members to improve processes and achieve lifesaving goals.

· Stay updated on veterinary trends and promote continuing education.

Qualifications:

· DVM or equivalent; licensed or eligible for licensing with the DEA and state board.

· Experience in shelter medicine, exotics, or large animals preferred but not required.

· Strong teamwork, problem-solving skills, and a compassionate approach to animal care.

· Physically able to handle daily tasks like lifting up to 40 pounds and working indoors/outdoors.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and shelter software preferred.

· Bilingual or multi-lingual abilities are a plus.
