We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and be committed to providing exceptional support to our veterinarian and team members. The Veterinary Technician plays a crucial role in our medical care of the shelter animals, assisting with medical procedures, maintaining patient care, and contributing to the overall success of our team.

Key Responsibilities:· Administers treatments and procedures
· Prepares and administers pre-anesthetics, IV and gas anesthetics
· Shows proficiency in venipuncture and IV catheter placement
· Performs emergency procedures (within the scope of Florida practice) as instructed by staff veterinarian
· Demonstrates knowledge of restraint and handling techniques, as well as general animal safety practices, including recognizing animal behavior patterns
· Operates and maintains medical equipment
· Inventory supply and management as necessary under the direction of the Shelter Veterinarian
· Assists in surgical procedures
· Monitors animals before, during and post-surgery
· Assist staff veterinarians with necropsies
· Performs dental prophylaxis
· Collects samples and performs laboratory tests (heartworm tests, fecal, urinalysis, parvo and others)
· Performs x-rays and demonstrates understanding of radiological safety procedures
· Enters and maintains medical records, as well as other data entry as required
· Performs and assists with humane euthanasia
· Shares and coordinates work with other Veterinary Technicians
· Demonstrates organization and attention to detail
· Provides courteous and knowledgeable service regarding animal information, medical care, and treatment instructions to clients, outside medical professionals, and employees
· Remains current on trends, techniques, and technology in the profession
· Performs pharmacy duties, including labeling and filling medications
· Assist with reception duties as needed

EDUCATION, SKILL, EXPERIENCE:
· Must be 18 years of age or older.
· Licensed as Florida Certified Veterinary Technician preferred.
· Minimum two year clinical and/or shelter experience in a veterinary environment.
· Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and database environments, preferred.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Able to lift and carrying 50 lbs. for a moderate distance as well as carrying furniture up stairs.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Team Player - works well with others, is collaborative, strong communication and listening skills
Availability to work weekends and evenings.
Salary: $17.00 - $19.00 an hour
*Pay differential for CVT
