Willamette Animal Guild (WAG) is a nonprofit seeking an experienced full-time Wellness and Surgical veterinary assistant (VA) to join our low-cost, high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) team. This individual should be highly motivated, detail oriented, observant, and quick on their feet. WAG’s wellness/surgical team works 4 days a week, 10 hours per day.
WAG’s S/N clinic is a fast-paced environment averaging 5,000 surgeries per year. We are seeking a dynamic, friendly and self-starting team member to join our community clinic (32-40 hours per week, Monday-Thursday). WAG staff has limited client contact and will continue to offer curbside service. Applicants must have a minimum of one-year experience as a veterinary assistant. HQHVSN clinic experience is a plus, but not required. Rate of pay based on experience.
Job Summary
Responsible for assisting with patient exams, daily care of all wellness/surgical patients, assisting wellness CVT with wellness scheduling, general cleaning, and training others to utilize our patient care protocols, and more.
Essential Surgical Position Functions
Communicate in an effective and professional manner with the public, volunteers, and all staff members.
Represent WAG in a professional and courteous manner at all times
Know basic office concepts (phone, printer, label maker, laptop/tablet, data entry, record management)
Experience in dog and cat restraint/handling for receiving and release of patients
Ability to deliver pre/post-appointment instructions in a competent and friendly manner.
Collect payments and relay appropriate information to staff on intake to be recorded into the database.
Ensure prompt and accurate paperwork procedures are followed each day
Follow all written and verbally communicated departmental standard operating procedures
Assist with rechecks as needed
Schedule management; schedule by phone, email, text to maintain a full schedule and communicate effectively with with scheduling coordinator when needed
Clean/maintain exam room and wellness area following proper disease control protocol
Help stock supplies and manage inventory with wellness CVT
Display a positive and motivating attitude
Able to efficiently collaborate with our surgical team
Able to perform all job functions of a veterinary assistant
Cross train in areas for coverage if needed
All other duties, as assigned by supervisor

8 days front-loaded PTO at day 91(prorated on number of days worked from hire date)
